American Airlines backed away from plans to take a bribe for its American Eagle Caribbean operation, a grade it had been contemplating in order to comply with a provision in its mainline pilot contract that ties the size of its Regional code-share partners to the size of the mainline. Instead, AA will change the two-letter designator digest on three Regional affiliates operating as American Connection on the outside of Sr. Louis: Chautauqua, Trans States and Corporate Airlines. "We haven't determined what that collection of laws will be," said Kurt Iverson, a spokesperson for American Eagle. "We don't have
